The story of the acorn, the oak tree, our business and your business

The story of the acorn, the oak tree, our business and your business

Among the sacred trees in many legends, the mighty oak stands noble and tall as The Tree of Lifeoaktree

Each acorn contains one seed (only rarely two or three) and takes 6–18 months to mature, depending on species.

If you draw a parallel with your business, it will probably take a minimum of 6 months hard work with Acorns to Oaks, before you’ll see the effects of our interventions pay off and another 6 months or so for the improvement to cement itself. After that continuous growth should be embedded in your business’ DNA

Oak wood has great strength and hardness, and is very resistant to insect and fungal attack.

Oak planking was common on Viking longships in the 9th and 10th centuries. Wide boards of oak have been prized since the Middle Ages for use in interior panelling of prestigious buildings such as the House of Commons in London and in the construction of fine furniture.
Oak wood was used in Europe for the construction of ships oakbarreland was the principal timber used in the construction of European timber-framed buildings.
Barrels in which wines, sherry, and spirits such as brandy, Irish whiskey and Scotch whisky are aged, are made from oak. The use of oak in wine can add many different dimensions to wine based on the type and style of the oak, like the colour, taste, and aroma of the contents, imparting a desirable oaky vanillin flavour to these drinks.
Oak wood chips are used for smoking fish, meat, cheeses and other foods.
The bark of the cork oak is used to produce wine stoppers (corks).

Altogether the mighty oak is a wonderful plant and we are proud to associate our business with this extraordinary and versatile living legend.
The oak is a universal symbol of oakchips strength and endurance. We embody these traits of the oak as catalysts for business improvement and growth.

Like the oak, Acorns to Oaks is not in it for the short haul. We’ll stand by you however long it takes- certainly not a flash in the pan. We have an accumulation of hundreds of years of business experience and knowledge; much like the Bowthorpe Oak, in Lincolnshire, which is thought to be 1,000 years old.

Here endeth the wonderful story of the Acorn and the Oak and the inspiration behind the name of our business and metaphor of what we stand for.

You too can be part of this story.
